Installation: interactive "mouse-chair", real-time Web feed, projection and monitor


An interactive chair lets the user surf the website with her/his body
and triggers 101 different performances, based on the link structure
of the whitehouse.gov website. The performances depict a person -
inspired by a character in the movie "The Great Dictator" by Charlie
Chaplin - dressed in a suit, juggling a limp globe and dancing frantically
matching the "dance notation" given by the html of the website.
Simultaneously the real-time URL of the selected link is delivered.

Software:
The installation runs in a web browser.
It is written in Javascript and DHTML;
it uses Quicktime Player.

Web Project


A graphical representation of the "www.whithouse.gov" hyper-text link structure
- "portrayed" two levels down into the website - can be navigated and triggers
101 different performances, which movements are based on the links and sublinks
of the website. The performances depict a person - inspired by a character in
the movie "the Great Dictator" by Charlie Chaplin - dressed in a suit,
juggling a limp globe and dancing frantically matching the "dance notation"
given by the html of the website. Simultaneously the real-time URL of the
selected link is delivered.

need Quicktime Player and Flash Player. This piece will perform best
with high speed internet connection. Turn your sound up!

The piece will open in new windows. Then "slide" with your cursor over
the graphic in the left window and discover the change of movies and
related information (in a second and third window.)

the painting "Adam and Eve" by Dürer and Titian - dressed here in a bikini,
wearing a pope hat and dancing orderly matching the "dance notation"
given by the html of the website. Simultaneously the real-time URL of the
selected link of the website is delivered.
